Watch It Wednesday #25
Uruguay has become a world leader in transitioning to renewable energies over the past ten years. Currently, 98% of the country’s electricity comes from a mix of hydroelectricity, solar, and wind power (providing a third of this total). This transition has been enabled by focusing on stakeholder engagement, education and training, government investment, and new laws to support clean energy development. Uruguay presents an excellent case study for other jurisdictions around the world to leverage.
The countries next target? Tackling emissions in the transportation sector!
