2021 was the fifth hottest year on record. The global average surface temperature was 1.1-1.2°C above pre-industrial levels and GHG concentrations in the atmosphere continued to rise. The past seven years are now the seven hottest on record.
Climate change mitigation (through the reduction of GHG emissions and the revitalization of natural ecosystems) and adaptation (making our systems from housing to transportation more resilient to the changing climate and more extreme weather events) have never been so imperative. Let’s hold corporations and our governments accountable to the targets they have set and push for more ambitious action right now.
