Watch It Wednesday #54

The Arctic is warming four times faster than the rest of the world, and it is experiencing the widespread effects of climate change. These effects are not only observable in stark decreases in sea ice cover and weather patterns but also in the composition of Arctic ecosystems. Temperate Cetaceans (whales and dolphins) and other sea creatures are inhabiting Arctic waters more frequently and for longer periods. Researchers and residents of Greenland are noticing significant changes in the cetacean species off the coast, including increased numbers of uncommon species such as fin whales. Not only does this have significant potential to affect and alter the Arctic ecosystem, but it also points towards the changes occurring further afield in the Arctic.
